There’s a place along the Limpopo River where the wild still runs deep — Mmabolela Conservancy.
17,000 hectares of bushveld stretch across the border of South Africa and Botswana, shaped by time, history, and hardship. Bull’s Eye Taxidermy is proud to be part of the team helping to protect it. While this land carries the scars of poaching, it also carries the strength to recover. Through focused conservation efforts, private stewardship, and a long-term commitment to preserving what’s left, Mmabolela has being given a fighting chance. For us, this is more than a project — it’s a promise to the wild, and a reminder of what’s worth protecting.
Protecting Mmabolela is a daily effort, guided by Craig and carried out by a dedicated team of rangers and tracking dogs. These men know the land, the risks, and the routes — and with the help of highly trained K9 units, they work tirelessly to deter poachers, patrol the boundaries, and respond when threats arise. It’s tough, relentless work, but it’s what keeps the wild, wild. Every snare removed, every sign tracked, every patrol walked is a step toward keeping this land as it should be.
Mmabolela is the kind of place that stays with you. The dust, the silence, the long shadows — they settle into memory. This book is a collection of stories from those who’ve spent time on the reserve, who’ve walked its game trails, felt its stillness, and witnessed its harsh and beautiful rhythms. It’s not a history book. It’s a remembering. If you’d like to purchase a copy, please get in touch.
